Pleased To Meet Me: By A Thread
Introduce yourself... (Where are you from, what band do you play
in etc..)
JF:Nice to meet you too! My name is John Franco and I play guitar and sing in the band By A Thread from Vancouver BC.
JF: Why do you play music?
That is a real broad question. I can’t really answer it correctly I don’t think. I just play music because it’s what I do. Like walking, eating or hanging out with friends. It’s just ingrained in me, always has and I’m pretty sure always will be.
JF: What was a major influence on you as an Artist/Band?
Life in general. The ups and downs. The power of releasing that and channeling it through music. My friends and my family, my dog Otto.
JF: What’s a favourite book or film?
Back To The Future
JF: Do you prefer the recording process or performing live?
I enjoy both aspects of being in a band. Having one without the other would be strange.
JF: What would be a dream collaboration?
I don't really have a dream collab at least it doesn’t run through my head. I just love being creative with my friends and people who are close to me.
JF: Describe a favourite album.
I have too many favourites I can’t single one out. I really can’t think of just one right now.
JF: What's your favourite local haunt?
Sorry I’m not sure what you’re asking here.
JF: What's your strangest experience while performing live?
I accidentally dumped a water jug all over the monitor board at a place in Winnipeg called The Royal Albert. It was scary, I thought the building was going to blow up.
JF: If I were pursuing anything other than music it would be...
Travelling the world
What are some of your favourite aspects of being a musician in
Vancouver?
Vancouver is a small city. Things have changed a lot over the years. To be honest I’m not sure what to expect because we are yet to play our first show in a real long time. I’m definitely excited for it.
JF: If you weren’t playing music in Vancouver where would you be ?
I’d live in Vancouver regardless. I was born here and will probably die here too. Morbid but true.
JF: Any sage advice for young musicians?
Never give up. Practice makes perfect. Do your own thing.
